Venice Carnival 2016: Your dream can be reality!
From centuries the image of Venice is associated with the Venice Carnival, wonderful event full of colours, festivities, events and people. It’s held every year during the first months of the New Year.
This Year the Venice Carnival 2016 will begin with the traditional flight of the Angel, scheduled for Sunday 31 January 2016, but the official program includes many events before the start, a great “appetizer” for all the people who are planning to live a journey discovering the Venice Carnival: don’t miss it!
Let’s a look to the program:
Saturday, January 23:
Grand Opening with a beautiful water parade along the Cannaregio Canal, the second biggest canal in Venice (after the Grand Canal). This is a real event on the water and everybody is invited: at 18.00!
Sunday, January 24:
The festival continues Sunday and culminates with a demonstration rowing until Cannaregio Rio. Along the banks you’ll find a mix of cicheti, animation and color starting at 11.00 Saturday 30 January: at 14:30 will begin the wonderful “Corteo delle Marie”, from San Pietro di Castello and along Via Garibaldi first and continues to Riva degli Schiavoni . Twelve beautiful girls dressed in classic Venetian style parade with the procession following to Piazza San Marco, and you’ll see the competition “Competition of Marie” which will culminate on 7 February with the proclamation and election of the “Maria del Carnevale”, the most beautiful of all the girls participating in the competition.
Sunday, January 31:
The Maria of the Carnival 2015, Irene Rizzi, will launch from the Campanile of San Marco to open the official edition of the Venice Carnival 2016. Don’t miss this spectacular event to be held at 12.00 am!
Saturday, February 7:
A surprise guest who always from the Campanile will be launched in what is called the “Svolo dell’Aquila”: Who is this special guest?
Monday, February 9 :
It will be elected the winner of the Maria Venice Carnival 2016. At the end there will be the “Svolo del Leon”: this is a special event to discover Venice and the magic of Carnival!
